Katherine Pope, PT, DPT
Dr. Katherine Pope has a lifelong interest in movement studies that stems from many years of ballet and contemporary dance training, followed by a current active involvement in endurance sports, Pilates, and yoga. She specializes in orthopedics and manual therapy and is also certified as a Pilates Rehabilitation Specialist through Polestar.
Her experience and professional continuing education coursework in manual therapy, women’s health, and movement analysis allows Dr. Pope to provide the highest quality, evidence-based treatment for her patients.
Dr. Katherine Pope earned her BS in exercise physiology from Georgia State University, and she subsequently provided individualized health programs as a fitness professional and personal trainer in Atlanta, GA and San Diego, CA. Upon her return to the East Coast, she earned her Doctorate in Physical Therapy from the University of Miami.
She is currently an active member of the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) and its Orthopedic and Women’s Health Sections, and the American Academy of Orthopedic Manual Physical Therapists (AAOMPT).
In addition to her specialty in orthopedics, Dr. Pope has experience in working with patients in the acute care, pediatric, and cardiac rehabilitation settings. She has developed individualized Pilates-based treatment programs for both orthopedic patients as well as patients with neurological dysfunction, such as Parkinson’s disease and stroke.
In addition to a manual therapy approach to treatment, she has found Pilates to be an effective tool for neuromuscular re-education for attaining better body awareness, alignment control, and muscular strength. Dr. Pope is also initiating a specialty in pre- and post-partum women’s health and rehabilitation.
