Pilates
BodyFit physical therapists integrate Pilates exercises and principles to treat patients who need movement re-education, improved neuromuscular control, and strengthening.
We are Certified Practitioners of Pilates for Rehabilitation through Polestar Pilates. We value and teach the six education principles that Polestar has developed:
- Principle One – Breathing: Trunk Organization with Inhalation and Exhalation
- Principle Two – Axial Elongation/Core Control
- Principle Three – Efficiency of Movement Through Organization of the Shoulder Girdle, Thoracic, and Cervical Spine
- Principle Four – Spine Articulation
- Principle Five – Alignment and Weight Bearing of Lower Extremity and Upper Extremity
- Principle Six – Movement Integration of Pelvis, Thoracic, Head and Extremities
Once a patient has mastered these principles, they can safely progress to training with our certified Pilates instructors. This transition works well for our patients and allows collaboration between your physical therapist, Pilates instructor, and you, in order to provide the ultimate holistic experience.
We also offer Pilates training from a certified Pilates instructor to the general public, using beautiful, state-of-the-art Pilates equipment from Balanced Body. Please visit the Balanced Body website for more information.
